10 AM - 11:30 AM | Mini Canvas: Monster Magnet

Paint colorful monsters to celebrate the Museum's Creature Feature: Unusual Beings from the Permanent Collection exhibit! Students will get 2 magnetic canvases and acrylic paint; on the first canvas, students will make a little monster! And on the second canvas, the students will stretch their creative minds and paint whatever they want! Or if they’re undecided they can take a prompt written on paper in a jar! These prompts range anywhere from Pumpkin to Christmas to Flowers.

12 PM - 1:30 PM | Mini Canvas: Abstract Magnet

In this workshop, you'll create abstract pieces similar to the current exhibiting artist Hoijin Jung. Students will get 2 magnetic canvases and acrylic paint, the first canvas we will make an abstract piece using 2-3 colors! On the second one, the students will create fantastical abstract paintings, drawing inspiration from our most recent exhibition and imitating the dreamlike qualities from dreams. If students are undecided they can select a random paint palette and paint based on the color aesthetic.

2 PM - 3:30 PM | Watercolor Bookmarks

Create your beautiful watercolor bookmarks! Whether you’re making it for yourself or as a gift for someone else you’ll learn to use watercolor and mix your colors using tube watercolors. You’ll also get to add on a colorful tassel to the bookmark once it’s dried.

4 PM - 5:30 PM | Watercolor Trading Cards

Create watercolor trading cards! Trade them with other students and the teacher! Whether you’re making it for yourself or as a gift for someone else you’ll learn to use watercolor and mix your colors using tube watercolors. Students will learn about the elements of art while making fun artist trading cards, an art project originally started in 1997 that's been growing strong ever since.
