Graciously Departed is a Grateful Dead tribute band based in Lafayette, Indiana. Over the last 8 years, the band has gained popularity in the area for their authentic sound and energy that capture the essence of the iconic band's live performances.
Graciously Departed consists of a group of talented musicians who share a love of the Grateful Dead's music and message. The band's current lineup includes Christopher Lee on lead guitar, Jason Gick on bass, Kidd Deckard on drums, and Ben Deater on keyboard, and longtime Art Museum instructor James Werner on rhythm guitar and vocals. The band prides itself on tight vocal harmonies and spontaneous harmonic and melodic play to capture the complex song arrangements and improvisational jams that are a hallmark of the Grateful Dead's music.
The band's repertoire includes many of the iconic Grateful Dead original songs as well as covers of songs by artists like Bob Dylan, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and others. Graciously Departed also frequently performs entire sets recreating classic Grateful Dead concerts, which showcases their dedication to providing the most authentic experience possible for their audience.
Graciously Departed's faithful renditions of the Grateful Dead's music have earned them a dedicated following in the Lafayette area and around the region where they have become headliners of summer music festivals and performed at some of the best-known venues in the state.
